About Me
I am an assistant professor in the University of Southern California's department of political science and international relations. I study forced migration, violence and peacebuilding. My current book project, Homeward Bound: Refugee Return and Local Conflict after Civil War, examines how an often ignored but ubiquitous consequence of civil war — the return of displaced populations — affects post-conflict environments. Other ongoing research focuses on the evolution of the international refugee protection norms and the ethics of conducting research in violence-affected contexts. My work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Institute of Peace, Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania, the Columbia Global Policy Initiative. You can read more about my work in International Security, Foreign Policy, Slate, the Washington Post's Monkey Cage Blog, and Political Violence at a Glance. I have worked with international policy organizations including the U.S. Institute of Peace, the World Bank, and the Sudd Institute. My research received the 2019 Best Dissertation award from the Migration & Citizenship section of the American Political Science Association (APSA). I served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania (2018-2019) and hold a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. |
