About Me
I am an assistant professor in the University of Southern California's department of political science and international relations. I study forced migration, violence and peacebuilding. My current book project, Homeward Bound: Refugee Return and Local Conflict after Civil War, examines how an often ignored but ubiquitous consequence of civil war — the return of displaced populations — affects post-conflict environments. Other ongoing research focuses on the evolution of the international refugee protection norms and the ethics of conducting research in violence-affected contexts. My work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, U.S. Institute of Peace, Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania, the Columbia Global Policy Initiative.

Y
ou can read more about my work in International Security, Foreign Policy, Slate, the Washington Post's Monkey Cage Blog, and Political Violence at a Glance.

I have worked with international policy organizations including the U.S. Institute of Peace, the World Bank, and the Sudd Institute. My research received the 2019 Best Dissertation award from the Migration & Citizenship section of the American Political Science Association (APSA). I served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania (2018-2019) and hold a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University.
